Two Vehicle Maintenance Shops including 2 weapons vaults each (55,000 SF) to provide permanent facilities for two Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Battalions, two Deployment Storage Buildings, shop apron, with exterior pavements & site utilities.
This phased project included heavy concrete foundation/slab, structural steel, load bearing CMU, masonry veneer, metal siding, SSMRS roofs, security vaults, bridge cranes, fire protection systems, fire alarm system, PA System, drywall finishes, acoustical ceilings, ceramic tile, vehicle exhaust systems and elaborate EMCS monitored HVAC systems. Civil work included major earthwork, extensive storm drainage system with detention pond, 8” exterior water, sewer force main, gas lines, cathodic protection system, underground power and communication ductbanks, 100,000 SY RMP pavements, 7000 SF reinforced concrete aprons, asphalt pavements, concrete curbs & gutter, chain link fencing, security lighting and turf.
100,000 square yards of military equipment pavements consisted of new technology of Resin Modified Pavement (RMP) in lieu of the traditional reinforced Portland cement. This technology consists of added stone drainage layers completed by a conventional asphalt base course plus a resin modified pavement surface course. The finished installation appears to realize a significant cost reduction versus conventional Portland cement.
